Three ways to style a sculptural lamp
A sculptural lamp is an object first and a light second. Place it so it is seen in daylight, and it will look even better when it is on.
1. On a console, with space around it
Give the lamp room. Put it on a console or sideboard with one or two other things at most, for example a small bowl and a stack of books. The shape is the decoration, so do not hide it.
2. By the bed, kept low and calm
A softly twisting lamp like the Helix suits a bedside table. Choose warm light, keep the table clear, and place the lamp so the glow falls on a plain wall. The ribs cast a gentle pattern that is easy on the eyes at night.
3. In a corner, as the tall note
An empty corner is the best place for a floor lamp. A tall fluted column like the Tide fills the corner with soft light and adds height without adding clutter. Put it beside a chair or sofa, on a flat floor.
A few rules that always help
- Mix materials: a fluted lamp looks good against rough plaster, wood or stone.
- Group in odd numbers if you use more than one object.
- Keep colours calm: our white lamps work with every palette.
